TorrideX: Plasma Energy Harvesting

Direct conversion of plasma energy without thermal cycles.

The Challenge

Standard nuclear batteries (RTGs) have low efficiency (~6%). My goal is to validate a "Direct Conversion" architecture extracting energy from plasma using Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) and capacitive principles.

The Experiment

• Setup: Built a benchtop reactor using a 200W induction plasma source to simulate ionized isotope gas.
• Method: Applied external ExB fields using positioned Neodymium magnets to separate charge carriers.
• Measurement: Used an oscilloscope to track voltage potentials across external capacitive electrodes dependent on magnetic field geometry.

Demonstrated the physics of "Cold Plasma with Hot Electrons." The data confirmed that charge separation correlates with magnetic field configuration, validating the core claim of the filed non-provisional patent.
